Gas Companies Come Up With Their Own Version of, 'Would You Like Fries With That?' ... and it's Brilliant!

This video ad on a gas pump offers customers an additative that promises to increase gas mileage 10%. It's a great upsell that hits every driver's biggest pain point right now.

McDonald's is famous for its upsells and now the gas companies are taking it to another level. While at the pump in Florida recently, I cam across this video that offers customers an additative right at the pump to help drivers save gas -- and add even more sales!

It could have been even stronger if they offered more proof or a demonstration of how much gas the additive really saves and why it works so well. They could have included testimonials or showed how much customers save on average. They could have also played the 'green' card and showed how it may help the environment. Another option: include a 'funny money' deal that says: Press this button and it's like putting $500 in your pocket ($45/month savings x 12 months). I didn't do the math, but you get the idea. In all your promotions, your close should be positioned so your prospect feel like the decision to buy is a no-brainer.

How can you create an upsell that would be easy for your customers to say, 'Yes. Go ahead and add that to my order.'?
